Structural silicone glazing is a curtain wall system that looks like an all-glass surface from the outside: the glass is bonded with structural silicone.
The moments of inertia (Jx and Jy) are determined from the building's design factors – storey height, spans and wind load – and the facade is built from the horizontal and vertical profiles chosen to match them. With these profiles an aluminium structural curtain wall frame is prepared to the vertical and horizontal grid dimensions.
The frame is fixed to the floor slabs with adjustable U-anchors. The key point during installation is keeping everything in the same plane, both vertically and horizontally. An expansion joint is left at every floor.
